Exploring the Invisalign Treatment Purpose and Process

Without treatment, crooked or poorly spaced teeth and bite alignment issues can negatively affect your physical and mental health. Moderate to severe issues may make it difficult for you to chew your food well, which has the potential to lead to the development of gastric disorders. Misalignments may also impede your ability to talk clearly without pain or discomfort. As a result, many patients with teeth and jaw misalignments commonly experience symptoms of anxiety and depression due to these difficulties. This is why Invisalign has been a great solution for our patients.

If you are experiencing these problems, you are not alone. Approximately 65% of people have crowded or crooked teeth, and many reach their adult years without having the problem rectified. Thankfully, you may be eligible to utilize the Invisalign treatment system to end these problems for good.

Patient Eligibility

Whether you have an underbite, overbite, or crossbite, there is a good chance Invisalign will work for you. Teeth alignment issues, including wide gaps, overlaps and improper placements, can also be rectified through the use of this innovative treatment system. Before you get started with the Invisalign treatments, your dentist will need to determine if you are a good candidate for this system. During the initial consultation appointment, our doctors will identify your main alignment issues and rate the severity of each problem.

Key Invisalign Benefits

While undergoing the Invisalign treatment process, you never have to worry about failing to make a great impression. This system utilizes clear aligners, or trays, that give you the opportunity to flash your smile with confidence. Most people will not even notice that you are undergoing treatment due to the virtually invisible tray design.

You will change out the trays on a regular schedule to maneuver your teeth and jaw into position in small steps. This metered treatment approach slowly and efficiently completes the restoration process without any unnecessary pain or discomfort.

Unlike traditional braces, you can briefly remove the treatment trays and continue your normal oral care routine for the prevention of cavities and gum disease. You will not need to buy special floss, mouthwash or other products to stay on top of your oral health.

Invisalign Cosmetic Dentistry Procedure

If you are eligible for this procedure, our Johns Creek and Cumming dentist will begin by taking impressions and X-rays of your teeth and jaw. After using these reference materials to create a digital 3D model, your dentist will develop a personalized treatment plan just for you. You will be able to see the way each treatment tray will improve your tooth and jaw placement by viewing changes on the digital model.

After receiving your approval, our dentist will send out for the creation of your custom clear aligners. You will need to wear the trays for at least 20 to 22 hours a day to reach your treatment targets. You will have the ability to take out the aligners during mealtimes and tooth brushing sessions.

Every two weeks, you will switch to the next alignment tray in the treatment plan to continue pushing your teeth and jaw into place. You will undergo regular dental checkups to verify the treatment is working according to plan and receive support with the upkeep of your oral health.
